"It was an enriching experience in the gentle art of teaching the joy of giving. We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give..."   “Being part of the Annual Giving team was a very rewarding and enriching experience for me. I had a wonderful time interacting with alumni, exchanging views on NUS and helping out in a very noble cause!”

Siddharth, Engineering, 2nd year   Johnson, Engineering, 3rd year
“Working for the Phonathon was fun as well as interesting, especially because being Student Ambassadors made us feel so esteemed and honoured. "   "After 4 weeks of being a Student Ambassador, I realized that our alumni not only are still part of NUS community but, behind the scene, support NUS tirelessly."

Kathy, Engineering, 2nd year   Lana, Business, 2nd year
"Fantastic 4 weeks of being a Student Ambassador at the AG 06 Phonathon! It's not a long period but it's enough time for me to have a lot of fun, make a lot of friends and especially have a nice chat with a lot of alumni. Great memory! And I feel happier getting support from the alumni -- a lot of them participate in the NUS Annual Giving campaign."   "It is great when you can do something for someone that you love. For me, I feel happy that I have contributed to make NUS a better place and to bring more bursaries to my fellow NUS students."

Jawith, Engineering, 3rd year   Ming Feng, Engineering, 3rd year
"Commit to call, convince to give and glow with the gift."   “It’s a great learning experience hearing from the alumni of NUS! It’s great to be able to help my schoolmates too!”

Giat Yeng, Science, 2nd year   Cheng Ho, Engineering, 4th year
“The happiest moment is when we hear YES from our friendly and generous NUS alumni because these YESes really make a difference to our fellow students' lives.”   "It was a great experience working alongside each other for a good cause that could change the lives of others. Generous sharing of experiences by some alumni also gave us a better insight into our future careers."

Anna, Business, 2nd year   Emon, Engineering, 4th year
"Four weeks of being a caller in the Phonathon 2006 campaign was one of the greatest things I have ever experienced. We had a chance to talk to the alumni and share with them our career path and family life. Above all, the greatest thing is the feeling of being able to do something for my friends who go to the same school as me, but face more difficulties in life."   "It is truly inspiring how people are more than willing not only to take time out of their busy schedules and talk to us, but also to make such generous contributions to Annual Giving just because we, students, called them and asked them to help the cause."

Cheng Siew, FASS, 1st year   Alvin, Business, 1st year
"It was a good experience to be a Student Ambassador for NUS. I'm proud to be part of the Annual Giving calling team and to have learnt something new from it."   "I never expected it to be so fun chatting with NUS alumni! Listening to the concerns of those in their 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s is like fast forwarding to the future."

Asghar, FASS, 2nd year   Henry, Business, 3rd year
"Being a Student Ambassador was an amazing experience. I feel satisfied to realize that I have been part of a successful campaign, which is going to help many students in years to come. The generosity of our alumni is impressive. Not only were they keen to support the cause but were also willing to offer advices during the busiest hours of the day!"   "During my 4 weeks of being a Student Ambassador, I really had fun talking to NUS alumni not just about NUS stuff but also about their work, their family, etc. It was so cool and it was truly an experience for me to know more about NUS, my school, and Singapore, the place I'm living in."

Korinna, Engineering, 3rd year   Jun, SDE, 2nd year
"Who wants to play basketball? and Here are some sweeties! still reverberate in my mind when I remember my days as a Phonathon caller. The work environment is fun, relaxed, and even the supervisors are super friendly. The job itself is satisfying, because you know you are doing it for a worthy cause, and you get to learn a lot of interesting things about NUS from alumni that you'll never find in any publicity brochures. Being a Phonathon caller is one of the major highlights of my NUS days, no doubt about that.”   “Being a Student Ambassador has helped me gain the confidence to have meaningful conversations with people I've never even talked to before. It was great getting to know the alumni, trainers and other students. Most importantly, I was part of something that I believed in, something that touched the lives of many in NUS. "

Ushan, Business, 2nd year   Sheilla, FASS, 3rd year
"It's been a great experience to talk to alumni from various backgrounds. It gave me an insight into what university life was back then, as well as what life after university would be like."   "Being a Student Ambassador gave me different memorable experiences to bring home everyday. I looked forward to a new challenge on each phonecall, every hour, every minute. I enjoyed myself tremendously and I'm very proud to say I was part of the Annual Giving Phonathon Campaign 06!"

Ivy, Science, 2nd year   Sreya, FASS, 3rd year

“It was a good opportunity to network with NUS alumni and, at the same time, feel great satisfaction when we receive new donations for Annual Giving.”

"Working for the Phonathon was a truly enriching experience. Talking to alumni -- many of whom were extremely eager to contribute back to there Alma mater -- with the numerous stories that they shared related to the University, made me feel more proud of being a student at NUS."

Gamage, Science, 2nd year   Gyanesh, Engineering, 2nd year
"It was great being part of the Phonathon. Being a Student Ambassador, every phone call was memorable: listening to the experiences of our alumni members, helping rebuild their ties with the University, and all this time being involved in a worthy cause."   "Do good and have great fun doing it: the mantra of Phonathon 06. None of us ever saw it as a job. We would hang out together, chill, make some calls and raise funds. In a nutshell, given a chance, I would live those 4 weeks over and over again."

Uoon How, Engineering, 4th year   Grace, Engineering, 3rd year

Srinivas, Engineering, 2nd year   Shanice, FASS, 3rd year
“It was like speaking to myself 10 years down the lane! But most importantly, every single phone call was a satisfying and enjoyable experience because I knew all along that it was for a wonderful cause.”   "I have gained valuable experience as a Student Ambassador during the second Phonathon. It enabled me to speak more confidently to people from all background. It is great to hear from the alumni about their past experiences during their studies in NUS."
