NUS Giving

Commencement Class Giving 2008

Congratulations on your Commencement!

This is the second year that the University is asking the commencement class to consider making a gift to support student financial aid. This will continue a great tradition, started last year, which will not only help some students in their studies but also create an exemplary gesture that will inspire current and future students at NUS. Class Giving is a way for members of the Class of 2008 to help fellow students in their respective faculties to complete their education at NUS.

All gifts made by the Class of 2008 will be pooled with the NUS Student Bursary Fund and will be administered by the Student Financial Aid Unit of the Registrar’s Office to benefit eligible students in the academic year 2009. Bursaries will be given to students who will still need financial assistance even after taking study loans.

Universities in the US boast commencement class giving participation rates of as high as 80%. You can do your part in building this great tradition at NUS.

How much should I give?

Every gift counts!

To commemorate your commencement year, we suggest that you give a one-time gift of $8 or $20.08.

Our bursary recipients will appreciate your gift tremendously. One bursary award of $1,500 will provide your fellow students with 200 more hours to focus on their studies, bringing them a step closer to completing their studies.

Finally, your gift attracts a double-tax deduction that you can carry forward for five years. Your gift will also be matched dollar for dollar by the Singapore Government.

Make a gift now and join the rest of the Class of 2008 in making a difference!

"I gave because, although it is not a lot, I believe that together, the combined efforts of our class would go into making the road to graduation less bumpy for students who could really use a helping hand."
